Mrs. Judy Delrose Thompson (nee Coates) passed away peacefully at the Bow Island Health Centre on Sunday, February 28, 2010, at the age of 56 years, after a courageous battle with MS. She will be forever remembered by her devoted husband, David; her two loving daughters,
Tracy (Robbie) Taylor of Coaldale and Nikki (Jonathan) Hollingsworth of Foremost; five grandchildren, Luke, Brynlee, Avery, Ryker, Kendyl; her mother, Joyce Coates; sisters, Arlene (Frank) Turner, Pat (Don) McLeod; mother-in-law, Joan Thompson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John Thompson, Cynthia (Bev) Butterwick, Ken (Karen)
Thompson as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends who all loved her dearly. She was predeceased by her father, Philip Coates; father-in-law, Dick Thompson; brother-in-law, Richard Thompson and sister-in-law, Diane Thompson. Judy was born in
Calgary on May 5, 1953, the third daughter of Philip and Joyce Coates. As a girl growing up in Calgary, she was involved in 4H and attended Henry Wise Wood School. Judy married David on September 7, 1974, and had two daughters. In 1981, the family moved to Foremost, David’s home town where he took over the family business alongside his brother, Ken. Judy worked in the office at the store doing the bookkeeping where she quickly became a part of the small community and was well loved by everyone. During her time in Foremost, she enjoyed being a part of the local Theatrical Society and was involved in many productions. She was a lover of animals, and found great joy being
with her horse, Checkers. There are many fond memories of family ski trips and countless road trips to Calgary and many other places. Judy loved life and passed on her sense of adventure and good humor to her children. She was cared for at home by her husband and daughters for a long period of time until she was eventually moved to the extended care facility at the Bow Island Hospital in May 2007. There she received the best care we could have asked for and developed countless friendships among the staff. A Memorial Service for family members and close friends will be held at the Foremost Community Hall, on Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at 2:00 P.M. If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Judy’s name may be made directly to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, 833A Kingsway Ave. S.E., Medicine Hat, AB. T1A 2X5, or to the Bow Island Health Care Centre, Bag 3990, Bow Island, AB., T0K 0G0.
