LORETTA SIMPSON
1933 - 2010
Mrs. Loretta Helen Simpson, beloved wife of the late Mr. Melvin James Simpson, passed away at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary, on Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at the age of 76 after a short but courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her daughters, Sherrie (Duane) Bond and Darlene (Garth) Whyte; her cherished grandchildren, Brittany and Tyson Bond, Connor and Derek Whyte. Loretta is also survived by her sister, Sharon (Len) Mork; two brothers, Dennis (Marlene) Starner, Erwin (Helen) Starner; sister-in-law, Maxine Knibbs; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Loretta was the loving wife of Melvin
for 42 years before his passing in 2002. She was predeceased by her father, Merle Starner; mother, Minnie Krokom and brother, Daryl Starner. In her lifetime she was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. Loretta worked at the Bank of Montreal for many years in Medicine Hat and Bow Island followed by years of book keeping at the
Esso Bulk dealership while working alongside her husband, Melvin. Loretta was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed many handcrafts. She also loved reading, garage sales and shopping. Loretta enjoyed her time spent at 40 Mile Dam with her family, and in recent years, Loretta especially enjoyed winters in Mexico with her many new friends. Her family would like to acknowledge the caring staff of
unit 47 Foothills Hospital, for their compassion, gentle manner and support to the family, making mom’s last few days as comfortable as possible. You are special and we are so thankful. The Funeral Service will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church, 139 - 2nd Ave. West, Bow
Island on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. with Sheila McLeod officiating. In honour of Loretta, her friends will be holding a Memorial Service in Mexico on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 1:00
P.M. If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Loretta’s name may be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society, 200 - 325 Manning Road N.E., Calgary, Alberta. T2E 2P5.
