EVELYN REDEKOP
December 4, 1915 - March 8, 2010
Mrs. Evelyn Redekop passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family at the Good Samaritans on Monday, March 8, 2010, at the age of 94 years. Evelyn was born on December 4, 1915, and raised in Glen Kerr, SK., where she grew up on the family farm. It was there she met and married the love of her life, Dave. They farmed in the Glen Kerr area and moved to Coaldale for two years. In 1957, they relocated to a farm near Seven Persons, where they farmed for the next 23 years. Evelyn was a hard working farm wife who accompanied Dave with most of the farm chores as they worked together as a team. In 1980, they moved to the Medicine Hat, where they became accustomed to ‘city life’. They enjoyed bowling, playing cards, travelling to the States with their motorhome, and treasured their wide circle of friends. Evelyn enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers. She also loved to bake and try new recipes. Family and friends were always treated to home made baking, especially fresh bread and cinnamon buns. Evelyn liked to sing and enjoyed listening to and watching the music shows on TV. She would always tell us she was getting “Too old to cut the mustard” - one of her favorite songs. Sunday was church day for Evelyn and she always looked forward to going for lunch with family after the service. She was a gentle, kind and loving person who always held her family close in her heart. A special thank-you to the caring staff at the Good Samaritans for the excellent care and kindness she received. Evelyn will be dearly missed by all, but will be loved forever in the hearts and minds of her children, Barbara (Marvin) Stuber and Bob (Yoka) Redekop; grandchildren, Carol (Michael) Dell, Warren (Sandra) Jans, Nicole Redekop, Tara (Jason); great-grandchildren, Vanessa, April, Rebecca, Bradley, Lisa, Tracy, Carla; great-great-granddaughter, Taylor-Ann; sisters-in-law, Anne (Jake) Thiessen and Beth Keiling as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Evelyn was predeceased by her parents, Lena and John Wiens; her husband, Dave; three brothers and two sisters. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13 Street S.W., on Thursday, March 11, 2010, between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. A celebration of Evelyn’s life will take place at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel on Friday, March 12, 2010, at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Loren Hosfield officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery. DUSTIN "BEAR" RENSCHLER
1996 - 2009
Dustin Garnieth Renschler, beloved son of Marina and Brad, and brother to Shelby, passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Thursday, November 5, 2009, at the age of 13 years. Dustin was born on March 16, 1996 in Bow Island, to proud parents, Brad and Marina and a little brother to Shelby. Dustin endured a life of medical woes and faced his challenges with sparkling spirit. His personality shone through his eyes and was adored by those around him. “Bear” was quite a prankster and liked to maintain his silence until his sister, Shelby wanted to watch TV. It was then his silence was broken and he would make his presence known by being loud - and then he would laugh! He was an affectionate young man and loved to cuddle. He would pull you near and hold on tight. He liked to tease and would often pinch while paying close attention to your hair to pull. Needless to say, while he loved animals, they showed their patience as he would pull on their ears and such. His roughhousing didn’t end with the family pet, his dad was also on the receiving end when “Bear” would demonstrate his newly learned moves from watching wrestling. Dustin loved life and never complained of adversity, even following surgeries. Like his picture, he remained happy and enjoyed the company of those around him. His memory will be cherished by his parents, Brad and Marina and his sister, Shelby; grandpa Garny Renschler and grandma Lu Robertson; uncle Mike (Amber) Renschler, auntie Tracey (Terry) Gardner, uncle Doug Smith, auntie Wanda Nord (Boyd), auntie Sam Gran, uncle Rob Robertson and auntie Patty Robertson as well as numerous cousins and other relatives. He was predeceased by his grandma, Joan Renschler, grandpa, Jim Robertson, grandpa Oly Pelltier, grandpa Wyman Campbell and ‘Harley Pup’. Family and friends are welcome to pay their respects and visit with the family at Marina’s home, 317 - 4th Street West, at liesure from Sunday, November 8, 2009 to Tuesday morning, November 10, 2009. A Celebration of Dustin’s life, filled with music, will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church, 139 - 2nd Ave. West, Bow Island on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. with Sheila McLeod officiating. Interment will follow at the Burdett Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Dustin’s name may be made directly to the Southridge Drive Group Home, 64 Southridge Drive, S.W., Medicine Hat, Alberta T1B 2N6.

Edith Evelyn Roberts, beloved wife of the late Jack Roberts, passed away on February 17, 2007 at the age of 91 years. She leaves to cherish her memory her children Carol (Ove) of Clinton, Ontario, John (Irene) of Olympia, Washington, Bruce (Tammy) of Calgary, Alberta and Vicki (Les) of Medicine Hat; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren, Barry (Nancy) and their children, Maggie, Evelyn and Claire, Janice, Heather (Jeff) and their newborn Ellie Rose, Kelsey, Ian and Erin; also her cousins Mildred, Fran (Doc) and Shirley. She was predeceased by her husband Jack in 1966, her father James Edmunds in 1957, her mother Annie in 1978, a brother in infancy in 1919 and a sister in infancy in 1925. Edith was born in Lampman, Saskatchewan, on November 29, 1915. Her family moved to Medicine Hat six months later, where she would reside on the same street for her lifetime. For 18 years she worked for Ogilvie Mills where she retired from in 1980. She would often walk to work and on snowy days would slide down the coulee on a cardboard sled, breaking her arm in the process. Once retired she started traveling with many family members but mostly with her daughter Carol. She spent many vacations in the Hawaiian Islands and the islands on the west coast of British Columbia. Her travels took her from coast to coast in Canada and along the eastern and western seaboards of the United States. She was one of the few seventy year olds who would ride Space Mountain in both Disneyland and Disneyworld! She traveled on most of the BC and Washington State ferries. She loved ships and cruised along the Maritimes and rivers/canals of Europe. Edith once saw eight shows in the London theatre district while touring England on a Britrail Pass. Her favorite country was The Netherlands, a country she knew well. She also visited Belgium, Germany, Denmark and Sweden. At age 85, her trip to Denmark was a special time as she saw most of the country and stayed with local people. Her biggest trip of all was to Australia and New Zealand for Expo 88. One of her great concerns was not being able to live to see the Calgary Olympics in 1988. This was short-lived! Edith learned to use the computer in her eighties and was a prolific emailer. She had a love for cats, and had many over the years. Her TV usually had a news channel on, as she was always interested in what was going on in the world. Before her fall that broke her hip and shoulder she looked forward to her walks downtown with her friend and neighbor Eve. For many, many years she ate breakfast or lunch, three times a week, with Vicki and Les. They patronized almost every restaurant in Medicine Hat. In the last few years she looked forward to Sundays for coffee at Tim Hortons and for Tuesdays for Ruth's great meals. A private family memorial service and interment will be held at a later date.

She organized many family reunions in Kin Coulee which facilitated many good memories for her family. Some of Meta's passions included fishing, gambling and travel. Meta was also talented with her hands. She enjoyed knitting and weaving rugs. Meta loved curling, and later on in life, enjoyed watching it on T.V. While actively curling, whether her team won or lost, they had a great time bonspieling. If Meta had one regret in life, it was that her grandchildren arrived later on. She said she had no control over that however, and really enjoyed being grandma. The Funeral Service will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Saturday, July 7, 2007, at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 102, 73 - 7 Street S.E., Medicine Hat, AB., T1A 1J2.
