MERVYN MAY
1929 - 2005
Mervyn Herbert May, devoted husband to Lily Jean, was called home to God on Sunday, November 20, 2005, at the age of 76 years. Mervyn's memory will be cherished by his loving family. He leaves behind his loving wife of 60 years, Lily Jean; his beloved Sandy; daughter Beverley Henderson and her family, Kingsley and his daughter Chantelle, Brenda and children Christopher, Justin and Jordan, Michael (Jeanine) and children Delphina and David, Cassandra (Dan) and children Shakari and Destiny, as well as two special grand-daughters, Lisa Vossler and Terry Neitz; four sons, Leslie (Dodie) and children Jenny, Carrie and Brandon; Gerald (Corrine) and children Steven and Kevin; Wayne; Kelvin (Jo-Ann) and children Michael and Mark. He is also survived by two brothers, Ron (Debbie) and their children Shelly and Trevor; Bruce May and family; one sister-in-law, Dorothy and her children Carol, Gordon and Robert. Mervyn was predeceased by his parents, George May and Mae May (nee Johnson); sister Mary McLeary and one brother, Ken. Mervyn was born in Regina, Sask., on April 1, 1929. He spent most of his childhood in Calgary, AB., before moving and settling in Medicine Hat. He worked for the C.P. Rail as a car inspector and union representative for thirty-two years. Mervyn and Lily Jean met at the City Cafe at a very young age. They married when they were sixteen and seventeen years old and spent their lives working and raising their family. He enjoyed woodworking and applied his skills to projects from furniture to garages. Mervyn enjoyed hunting, fishing and was also an avid gardener. After retiring, you were likely to find him in his garden. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Wednesday, November 23, 2005, between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. The Funeral Service will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel on Thursday, November 24, 2005, at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Loren Hosfield officiating. Interment to follow at Hillside Cemetery. GERTRUDE MOSER
1911 - 2005
Mrs. Gertrude Moser (Stark), peacefully passed away with her family by her side at the Riverview Care Centre on Tuesday, November 29, 2005 at the age of 94 years. Gertrude's memory is cherished by her sons, John (Irene) of Medicine Hat and Larry of Vanderhoof, B.C.; step-son, Father Martin Moser of Vancouver; daughters-in-law, Simonne Flynn of Medicine Hat, Patty (Stark) Linfoot of Mexico, Candy Stark of Fort St. John, B.C.; 13 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and many relatives and friends. Gertrude was predeceased by her first husband, George Stark in 1947; her second husband, John M. Moser in 1979; sons, Edward and Nick; daughter-in-law, Vivian Stark; an infant granddaughter, Jacqueline Stark and her parents, Albert and Anna Deck. Her life was guided by her faith values and prayer. As a young widow she became a capable business woman and post mistress to provide for her 4 sons and mother-in-law. Her family and extended family will remember her as a dedicated, kind mother and grandmother and a caring, trusting friend to many. Relatives and friends were invited for Prayers at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13th Street S.W. on Thursday, December 1, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. The Celebration of Life Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Parish, 1451 Strachan Road S.E., Medicine Hat on Friday, December 2, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. with Father Martin Moser celebrant. Interment will follow in the Roman Catholic Section of Hillside Cemetery. Mrs. Johanna (Jo) McCallum of Medicine Hat, formerly of Vauxhall, beloved wife of Jim McCallum, passed away in Medicine Hat on Friday, February 6, 2004, at the age of 86 years. Along with her loving husband Jim, Johanna leaves to cherish her memory numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Gertrude Van Voorthuysen. Mrs. Ella McDougall of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Mr. Laverne McDougall, passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2004, at the age of 102 years, exactly 101 years from the day she arrived in Medicine Hat as a child. Ella leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Eleanor McDougall of Medicine Hat; one son, Jim (Rhonda) McDougall of Sooke, B.C.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one sister, Florence Long of Comox, B.C., as well as two nieces and two nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Laverne in 1937; her mother and father, Jim and Ethel McCombs; her loving step-mother, Ida McCombs; one brother-in-law, Roy Long as well as her former daughter-in-law, Betty Craig. A Private Funeral Service will take place at a later date.

Loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she leaves to cherish her memory 10 children: Mary Anne (Danny -deceased) St. Onge of Calgary, AB., 4 children Steven, D'Arcy, Nicole and Kathleen; John (Grace) Marshall of Medicine Hat, 3 children Chrissy, Jackie and Sean; Fran (Gene) Matiation of Winnipeg, MB, 4 children Ron, Wayne, Kevin and Mark; Gerry (Linda) Marshall of Calgary, AB., 2 children Marla and Marci; David (Claire) Marshall of Ottawa, ON., 2 children Christopher and Jason; Aloise (Rae) Turnbull of Calgary, AB., 4 children Cindy, Greg, Misty and Connie; Tom (Gabriela) Marshall of Redcliff, AB., 1 child Lisa; Bob (Karen) Marshall of Medicine Hat, 3 children Jessie, Terra and Bostyn; Arlene (Randy) Scherer of Medicine Hat, 3 children Andrea, Justin and Jennie; Christine (Al) Beck of Medicine Hat, 3 children Joe, Ken, and Cindy. In addition to the 29 grandchildren named above, she also leaves to cherish her memory 19 great-grandchildren, along with brothers and sisters; Mary Rissling, Kay and Frank Tarnoczi, Rose Hall, Terry and Mike Wickenheiser, Cobb Bliss, Jerome and Diane Dirk, Al and Jean Dirk (who were always there for her); one brother-in-law, David (Mark) Marshall of Newport, Wales and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Jack, twin sons Keith and Kelly, parents John & Erma Dirk, granddaughter Angela Beck, great-granddaughter April Theis, and sister Lorraine Bliss. Anne was born on May 3, 1926 in Prelate, Saskatchewan. She worked at the Maple Leaf Mills in the early 1950's, where she met and later married Jack Marshall in September of 1952. She was employed with Eaton's, Woolworth's, Sears, Sweet Sixteen & Medican Construction on a part time basis. She traveled all over North America and served many years at the local stampede as a chaperon with the Lions Boys Band. Over the years Mom traveled to England, Wales, France, Egypt and numerous states...but most of all she enjoyed traveling around the country to see her children or to participate in competitive Bridge. Anne also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, & reading. Relatives and friends are invited to meet for Prayers at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13th Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Tuesday, April 6, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 238 - 2nd Avenue N.E., Medicine Hat on Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Father John Maes celebrant. Mr. Henry (Harry) Meakes, beloved husband for 55 years of Mrs. Margaret Meakes, passed on to his eternal reward on Friday, July 9, 2004 at the age of 93 years. He is the father of Elvin "Al' (Linda) Meakes, Manfred (Myckee) Meakes, and the late Douglas Meakes. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and one great-grandson. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Henry will be held at the Crescent Heights Church of Christ, 655 Stewart Drive N.W., Medicine Hat on Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. Mrs. Therese L. McCullough, beloved wife of the late Mr. John 'Jack' McCullough, passed away in Medicine Hat on Tuesday, July 27, 2004 at the age of 77 years. Therese will be lovingly remembered by her five sons, David (Edna), Allan (Camilla), Johnny (Sarah), Peter (Ellen), Paul (Cheryl); three daughters, Margie (Bob) Desjarlais, Linda McCullough and Doreen (Bob) Kearney. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one sister, Rita Cloutier. ALBERT LESLIE "LES" MCMICHAEL

Mr. Albert 'Les' McMichael, beloved husband of Dena McMichael, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, August 25, 2004, at the age of 86 years. He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters and their families, Debra (Allan) Spilde of Nanaimo, B.C., and their two daughters, Kelly and Dana as well as Dana's two children, Nicole and Haley; Chris (John) Preshing of Edmonton, AB. He was predeceased by his parents, brother and sister. Les was born on February 23, 1918 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. On September 24, 1947, he married Dena Coebergh. This was the beginning of 57 wonderful years together. The railroad was his life. Les worked with the C.P.R. from 1944 until his retirement in 1982. He was fondly referred to as "Big Foot' by many of his close friends, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him. John William Myles passed away with his family by his side on Tuesday, November 9, 2004, at the age of 64 years. Along with his wife Marie and his mother Doris, John leaves to cherish his memory his children, Valerie Schimpf (Larry), Daniel (Debbie) Myles, Vern Myles (Carla); step-daughter, Lori (Al) Malone; grandchildren, Tammy (Keith) Crawford, Daniel Jr., Darci and Dustin Myles, Nathan and Breana Malone, Daniel and Sara; great-grandchildren, Austin and Cheyenne Crawford; two sisters, Carol (Laurie) LaVender, Judy (Russ) Dodd, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Jim Myles and his son-in-law, Rick Schimpf. John was born in Medicine Hat and resided in Dunmore for 50 years. He worked on the C.P. Rail for over 25 years. John loved life and lived every day to the fullest. A Memorial Service and time of fellowship will be held at John and Marie's home in Dunmore, today, Saturday, November 13, 2004, between 1:00 P.M. and 4:00 P.M.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Sandra (Jimmy) Mitchell and their children, Adam, James and Tabitha; Kenny McLellan and his daughter, Jessica; Beryl (Tom) Eng and their children TJ and Jasmine; Cathy McLellan and her children, Quinton, Marcello and Mickele; Karen (John) McLellan and her great-grandson Cameron; her mother, Margaret Ball, her brothers and sisters, Les (Michelle) Heckbert; Marjorie (Bob) Balicki; David Heckbert; Josie (Joe) Comeau; Edward (Denise) Heckbert; Bill Heckbert; Elly (Gus) Trockstad; Marion (Wayne) McGee; Leonard (Marilyn) Heckbert; Ron (Shelly) Heckbert, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Wilfred and her infant brother, Gerald. Lillian was a wonderful wife and mother. Her favorite pastimes were playing bingo, bowling with her sisters and friend Joanne and baking her "famous" birthday cakes. She cherished her beloved dog, Maggie. Lillian will be forever loved and remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. ALVINA MORTON

2009 Mrs. Alvina Morton of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Mr. Robert H. Morton, passed away peacefully at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Sunday, May 17, 2009, at the age of 70 years. Alvina was born on June 20, 1938, a daughter to Martin and Frances Walz. On April 25, 1964, in Marengo, Saskatchewan, she was united in marriage to Robert Morton. Their marriage was blessed with the birth of a daughter, Ladean. For the next 35 years, Alvina supported her husband's Army career and fulfilled her role as an Army wife. During this time, she was a pillar of strength that stabilized the family home. Whether it was Germany, B.C., Ontario or a tour to the Golan Heights, Alvina was there for her family. She enjoyed tending to her garden and loved to cook! Her door was always open to those who would show up unannounced and she had the effortless ability to cook for them and make sure they were well fed! Life in a military family offered Alvina to experience many different cultures and travel the globe extensively. She enjoyed going to Mexico and went on many ski trips...although she never did ski! These were times for family, friends and socializing. She was proud of her daughter and grandchildren and often boasted of them. Her fun loving spirit and presence will be missed by her daughter, Ladean Morton (Bertrand) Guay and their children, Valerie and Jordan; 5 brothers and 4 sisters and their families. She was recently predeceased by her husband, Bob (March 24, 2009); brothers, Ken and Pius Walz as well as her parents.
