JOHN A. (BUCK) LIETZ
2004
John A. (Buck) Lietz of Medicine Hat formerly of Roblin, Manitoba, beloved husband of the late Mrs. Rita Lietz, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2004, at the age of 86 years. He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Lorilei (Darwin) Dirk and their family Robyn, Samantha and Ashley all of Redcliff; Lana Lietz (Dave) of Medicine Hat, Kelly (Denise) Booker of Redcliff, Harvey (Linda) Booker of Hayter, AB., Garland (Janis) Booker of Redcliff, and Pam (Jim) Ferris of Comox, B.C., as well as thirteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one brother, Vernon Lietz of Kelowna, B.C. John was born and raised in Roblin, Manitoba where he farmed until he moved to Medicine Hat in 1976. El-San Industries then employed him until he retired. He always enjoyed working with equipment and his cars. His wife Rita and his girls were very special to him. After Rita passed away in 1979, John was given the task of raising two teenage daughters, and he did a good job of that. When John spoke, everyone listened. He was a man of few words, but they were important ones. During his retirement years he enjoyed watching sports on TV, baseball in the summer and hockey and curling in the winter. In 1998, John moved to Redcliff to be closer to his family. In the winter of 2000, John was moved to the auxiliary wing of the Medicine Hat Hospital, where he lived until his passing, after a brief illness. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Sunday, January 11, 2004, between12:00 Noon and 3:00 P.M. Cremation To Follow. Funeral Services will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel on Monday, January 12, 2004, at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow at a later date in Roblin, Manitoba. Following the funeral service, relatives and friends will be invited to gather for a time of fellowship at the residence of Kelly (Denise) Booker, 938 - 5 Street S.E., Redcliff. CHARLES H. (PETE) LYNN
1926 - 2004
Mr. Charles Howard Lynn, fondly known as "Pete", beloved husband of Joan Lynn, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, April 4, 2004, at the age of 77 years. Pete also leaves to cherish his memory two children, son Art Lynn (Ronalea Magee) of Medicine Hat and daughter Betty Lynn-Woods (Dell Benson) of Alsask, SK; grandchildren, Edward and Jonathan Woods; step-grandchildren Jered and Jesse Magee as well as Kurtis (Brandie) Benson and Carson (Vanessa) Benson. He is also survived by one sister, Ruth O'dell of Stettler, AB., and one sister-in-law, Esther Lynn of Fort Assiniboine, AB., as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, four sisters and two brothers. Pete was born on August 19, 1926, the youngest of eight children, at Youngstown, Alberta. He was raised on the ranch south of Youngstown which his father came to homestead in 1911. He attended Crocus Plains School which his sister Nora taught, a few miles from home. Later in his teens, he went to school in Wayne, near Drumheller, AB., where his brother Jim taught. After grade 10, his father passed away, so Pete stayed home to help his mother on the farm. He loved farm life, the cattle and especially the horses. He was truly a cowboy. As his heard grew, so did his experience. On May 17, 1952, he married Joan McKenzie from Vernon, B.C. They raised two children, Art and Betty. Life was busy and happy on the farm. The church was very important to Pete. He loved his Lord and Savior. Sunday's after church was often spent in fellowship with neighbors and friends. Pete loved his horses, and enjoyed a brief career of chuck wagon racing with his brother Bob, competing in the Calgary Stampede. He was a known far and wide for his unique ability to "witch" for water. Spring and branding in June were his favorite times of the year. He loved hockey, having played in his younger years, and refereeing games in his middle years as well as devotedly watching hockey night In Canada to cheer on his favorite team. Pete loved his family. His children and their children were very important to him. Pete and Joan moved to Medicine Hat in 1984 as his health had started to deteriorate. Being part of the "City-folk" grew on him. He loved people, and going for coffee early each morning to meet up with Art and his numerous friends was an enjoyed, daily routine. He will be sadly missed, never forgotten, and is now with his Lord. A time of remembrance was held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, April 7, 2004. The Funeral Service will be held at the Gospel Chapel in Youngstown, AB., on Thursday, April 8, 2004, at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Bob Findley officiating. Interment to follow in the Youngstown Cemetery. MARIE LETOUZEL
1915 - 2004
"Safe In The Arms Of Jesus" It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Marie LeTouzel who passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Friday, April 16, 2004 at the age of 88 years. Marie was born on November 2, 1915 in Quebec. She was a kind, gentle caring lady who loved to paint scenes of landscapes (Marie painted the background of her picture above). Marie will leave a void in the lives of her family. She was the loving mother of Bill, Donna and Dayle (Dave) and grandmother to Carlo (Steph), Anthony, Nicholas, Brian (Verna), Steve (Nicole) and Tracey (Matt); great-grandmother to Andrew, Kyle, Trevor, Kaitlyn, T.J. and Brandon; sister to Margot Roi and aunt of many nieces and nephews. Marie was predeceased by her husband, Denton,; her parents and brothers and sisters. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13th Street SW Medicine hat on Monday, April 19, 2004 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. and again one hour prior to the Funeral Service which will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, April 20, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend George Fry officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Tina Lutz of Medicine Hat passed away on Monday, June 21, 2004, at the age of 92 years. She leaves to cherish her memory two children, Larry (Marilyn) Lutz of Victoria, B.C., and Mona (Roy) Enslen of Medicine Hat. She is survived by two grandchildren, Steve (Nichol) Enslen and Todd Enslen, as well as three great-grandchildren, Devin, Melissa and Alisha. Cremation services have taken place.

FRED LAUBENSTEIN
1916 - 2004
Mr. Friederich 'Fred' Laubenstein, beloved husband of Mrs. Katerina "Katie' Laubenstein, passed away at the Sunnyside Nursing Home on Tuesday, December 14, 2004 at the age of 88 years. Fred was born on July 27, 1916 in Romania. Fred was known for his ability to "work' at his hobby - watch and clock repair and continued to do so well into his retirement. He loved to treasure hunt at garage sales and then turn around and have his own garage sale and offer a money-back guarantee on the watches and clocks he would fix up and sell. 'Opa' was a tease and enjoyed his grandchildren when they visited. Fred loved socializing, music, reading German newspapers and was always very generous with his time and resources. He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of 64 years, Katie; sons, Rudolf (Rose) Laubenstein of Redcliff and Gunther (Diane) Laubenstein of Burdett; a daughter-in-law, Lorene (Adolf Ý Laubenstein; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Fred is also survived by a brother, Rudolf (Lena) of Lethbridge and many nieces, nephews and a large extended family in Germany. Fred was predeceased by a son, Adolf in April of 2000. The Funeral Service will be held at the Burdett Christian Community Church, Burdett, Alberta on Saturday, December 18, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Graham Otterbein officiating. IGNATZ "IKE" LANZ
1913 - 2004
Mr. Ike Lanz, beloved husband of Mrs. Edna Lanz, peacefully passed away at the Riverview Care Centre on Wednesday, December 23, 2004 at the age of 91 years. Ike was born in Sedley, Saskatchewan on October 24, 1913. Becoming head of the household at a very young age, his years of hard work started on the family farm near Schuler, Alberta. In Medicine Hat, Ike worked for many years at the Five Roses Flour Mill, then gained employment with the City of Medicine Hat, Gas Department, which he retired from in 1978. He loved to dance and enjoyed the occasional beer which enhanced his great sense of humor. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. Ike was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Veronica; eldest grandson, Craig Lanz and his first wife of 38 years, Maggie. Following her death, he remarried Edna Reiger in October of 1981. Besides his wife Edna, he will be remembered by his children, Leo (Alberta) Lanz and their children, Carrie and Patty (Don) Jeffels - Angelica; Jim (Lanna Ý Lanz and his children Marlo and Trent; Gary (Shirley Anne) Lanz; brothers and sisters, Tony Lanz of Medicine Hat, Rose Brosnikoff of Medicine Hat, Paulene Fode of Medicine Hat, Katie Berringer of Calgary and Joe Lanz of St. Albert. He is also survived by Eva Lanz of Medicine Hat, Sebastian (Ida) Giesinger of Medicine Hat, Violet Giesinger of Medicine Hat and Martha Giesinger. Relatives and friends met for Prayers at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13th Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 238 - 2nd Ave. N.E., Medicine Hat on Thursday, December 30, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. with Father John Maes celebrant.
