ELMER LUTZ
June 22, 1934 ~ January 31, 2010
Mr. Elmer Lutz, beloved husband of Mrs. Edna Lutz, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Sunday, January 31, 2010 at the age of 75 years. His memory and legacy will be carried on by the love of his life, Edna; children and grandchildren: son, Kelly (Cathy) Lutz and their family, Tyler, Candice, Mariah, Nicole and Tanner; son, Blaine (Carrie) Lutz and their family, Justin and Joel; daughter, Jennifer (Wade) Rockabar and their family, Jessie and Chance; son, Keith (Debbie) Lutz and their family, Keaton, Konner and Kaid; daughter, Nancy (Mike) Vander Heiden and their family, Dylan, Madison and Mackenzie all of Medicine Hat; a brother, Ralph (Irene) Lutz of Medicine Hat; sister, Irene Huzel of Quenel, B.C. and a sister, Linda Yanke of Medicine Hat. He was predeceased by his parents; three brothers; four sisters and one grandson, Cole Vander Heiden. Elmer was born on June 22, 1934 in the Seven Persons area, the youngest of eleven children born to proud parents, Jacob and Pauline Lutz. He married Edna Debler on August 12, 1955 and enjoyed a wonderful marriage of 54 years. As a young boy aged 15, he started working in the autobody trade. This would prove to be the beginning of a future legacy. In 1964 he opened Elmer & Harold’s Autobody and later expanded the operation with the opening of Elmer & Harold’s Glass. Through hard work and dedication, a third operation, Lucky’s Alignment & Brakes was added and completed the family business. Elmer retired in 1990 and was proud to see his boys carry the business that he worked so hard for. Elmer was naturally good with his hands and had an incredible eye for detail. He enjoyed working with wood and built many houses over the years. There wasn’t a project put before him that he wouldn’t tackle. One such project was his dream home he built on on an acreage south of Medicine Hat. He took great pride in all he did and it always reflected in the end result. In his spare time he enjoyed painting and in later years, he loved to play cards. Of all the many accomplishments he achieved through the years, nothing compared to his family. Elmer and Edna’s marriage was blessed with five children and 15 grandchildren. He loved his family and enjoyed watching his kids and grandchildren participate in all their activities through the years. Some of the best time spent with family and entertaining people was at his cabin at the lake. Four years ago, Elmer was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis of the lungs. He was always considerate to his family, so he bravely fought this disease with dignity and never complained about his condition. Elmer cherished every moment he had before he succumbed to the disease while in the presence of those he loved.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13th Street S.W., on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and again at the church one hour prior to the service. JAMES MICHAEL (MICKEY) LYNCH
Sept. 15, 1919 - May 7, 2008
A rich, deep voice has gone silent. James Michael (Mickey) Lynch passed away suddenly on Wednesday, the 7th of May. Mick had a long, high-profile career in television and radio news in the early days of CHAT. Born and raised in Medicine Hat, he spent a lifetime in the foothills; fishing with his great friend and brother, Bill; and whiling away many pleasant hours on the M.H. golf course – collecting errant golf balls and handing them off to family, who quickly made them errant again. Mick was a jovial, self-appointed guardian of the English language, but woe betide any and all who had the bad fortune to misspeak in his presence; for they were taken up, abruptly, and made to see the error of their ways. An aficionado of classical music, Mickey filled his world with beautiful sounds. He was one who never forgot a birthday; who was deeply attached to, and fond of, his family, and who was always there to help us out in whatever way he could. Live on in God's embrace Uncle Mick. We love you. All your nieces, nephews, our spouses and our children. You are the colourful uncle we will quote, and carry fond memories of, for the rest of our lives. Mickey was pre-deceased by brothers Harry, Allan, Patrick and Bill; sisters Kathleen, Evelyn and Annabelle. A Celebration of Mick's life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Monday, May 12, 2008, at 11:00 A.M. with Major Brad Smith officiating. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the SPCA, 55 Southwest Drive S.W., Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 8E8, or to the Salvation Army, 164 Stratton Way S.E., Medicine Hat, T1B 3R3.
