She was baptized at 5 years of age and she honoured this commitment throughout her entire life. Martha moved with her parents to Trochu, Alberta and lived there for several years on a farm in a house that her father had built. They later moved to live in another house her father had built on a farm south of Medicine Hat. This is where she lived while attending Kraus School with all of her Kraus cousins. Sometime around 1928, the family moved to Medicine Hat. Martha, her brothers and sister Clara didn't like the city life and chose the country life. She was the 2nd oldest in the family and her siblings were Clara Bohnet, Harry Bischke, Edwin Bischke, Florence Mudie and Alice Hrabic. Only sister Florence and Alice remain of the family. Martha went on to work on the Maser Farm for a while where she did house work and milked cows. Her next job was on the Eugene Burton Ranch, south of Medicine Hat, and by chance a Horse Trader by the name of Folten Fondrick caught her attention. They were married September 27, 1934, and went on to live south of Elkwater. It was an area called Rocky Flat which consisted of land, some cattle, Folten's parents and a little house that would fit in the living room of most of today's houses. They continued to live there until 1937 when along with their daughter Betty, they moved to the English place to work for Hillman Ranching. Martha and Folten had four children. Betty Irene born August 30, 1934 - Thelma, AB. Isabel Ruth born June 7, 1939 - Thelma, AB. Marlene Martha born Dec. 8, 1948 - Elkwater, AB. Harvey Lee born June 19, 1951 - Tothill, AB. In 1940, they moved again to the TA Ranch and ranched there until 1947. Folten moved the family to Elkwater for a few months and then to a farm at Tothill, Alberta. The place with a big white house and hip roof barn. They sold that farm in 1983 and retired to Irvine. After Folten's passing, Martha moved to Medicine Hat. She resided at Primrose Villa for several years until her health started to fail. She then moved into The Vallyview followed by a stay at Meadowland Retirement Facility until July 2005 when she was hospitalized. On August 26, 2005 she became a resident at The Riverview Care Facility where she resided until her passing.
