DOUG L. WATTS
1935 - 2008

Fisherman's Prayer
I pray that I may live to fish.......
Until my dying day.
And when it comes to my last cast,
I then most humbly pray:
When in the Lord's great landing net
And peacefully asleep
That in His mercy I be judged
Big enough to keep.

Well folks...let me be the one to tell you that I've taken a final trip - "Gone Fishing" so to say. This journey was planned for me, so I went with much anticipation thinking about what the fishing holes are like in Heaven.
Although I'm excited about this adventure, my thoughts will be with my family as I leave behind my dear wife Rena and children, Glenda (Mike) Iwaniuk of Calgary, Frank (Brenda) Watts of Medicine Hat and Mark (Sheila) Watts of Medicine Hat. I will also miss my 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and sister, Nonie (Mike) Osborne in Cypress, CA; 4 nieces a nephew and many extended family. By this time now, I'm catching up with my parents, Harold and Martha Watts; my brother, Ken (Betty) Watts; my mother and father-in-law, Mary and Frank Jinks and a brother-in-law,
Brian Jinks. I have requested that my family have a quiet private graveside service to honour my life. For you, my friends, take the time to go outdoors and appreciate the vast beauty of the land, feel the warmth of the sun upon your face, smell the freshness of an early rising and experience the tranquility of the twinkling stars. When a fish jumps in still waters, the ripples make their way to the edge of the shore - I hope my memory takes you to the edge of the shore, too...cast a line and reel one in for me! I thank you all for the good times shared, the laughter you have given me, and the comfort of family and friendship...¹till we meet again, I've "Gone Fishing".

JOHN HAROLD (JACK) WYBER
September 27, 1931 - April 12, 2007

John Harold (Jack) Wyber passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2007, due to complications following heart valve surgery.
Jack was born in Baring, Saskatchewan on September 27, 1931. He began his long and distinguished teaching career in a country school in Grenfell, Saskatchewan. After earning his B.A. and B. Ed. at the University of Saskatchewan, he taught high school Math and Science at Craik, Leader, and Bengough. From 1961 to 1992, Jack was a Math and Physics instructor at Medicine Hat High School, where he was also Science Department head for 21 years. Known for the perceptiveness and unflagging enthusiasm he brought to his vocation in the classroom, Jack also donated his time generously to extra-curricular activities which included directing student drama productions and running the high school chess club.
In addition, he taught summer courses at Medicine Hat College for a number of years and, after his retirement from teaching, remained involved in the school system by administering field tests for the Department of Education.
Jack will be remembered for his gentle nature, his optimistic outlook, and the versatility of his mind and diversity of his interests. His lifelong appreciation for classical music, in particular opera and choral works, found expression in his singing tenor in several local choirs, but perhaps even more so in the nurturing support and influence he gave to his daughters, all three of whom eventually pursued careers in music. His intellectual curiosity was broad enough to embrace not only theoretical physics, but also history, biography, and a special fondness for Shakespeare. Never one to shy away from a challenge, Jack was always ready for chess or any game of strategy or mathematical puzzle. He enjoyed sports,
having excelled at track and field in his youth, and later in life he cultivated considerable skill at his best-loved game, curling. Jack was also a long-time member of the Gas City Kiwanis Club, where his special area of involvement was the Kiwanis Terrific Kids program. A passionate and dedicated teacher and a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Jack possessed a patient, generous spirit and quiet integrity that will live on in all those whose lives he touched. For those of us closest to him, who knew and loved him well, he will be keenly missed but always lovingly remembered.  He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lillian; his daughters Jana (Peter Enman), Calgary, Leslie (Cameron McKittrick), Guelph, Ontario,
and Leah, Ottawa, Ontario; his granddaughter Zoe McKittrick, Guelph, Ontario; his mother Gladys Wyber, Broadview, Saskatchewan; brothers Les (Karen), Assiniboia, Saskatchewan, Bob (Audrey), Kenora, Ontario, Don (Mary), Westbank, B.C., and Brian of Calgary.
As an expression of sympathy donations may be made to the Alberta Lung Association, PO Box 4500, Stn. South, Edmonton, Alberta, T6E 6K2, or the Alberta Heart & Stroke Foundation, 124, 430 - 6th Avenue SE, Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 2S8.

At the age of 18, he joined the RCAF and served two years in England.  While in England, he met his loving wife, Marjorie and were married on November 10, 1945 in Brighton. these hobbies with his Dad and his good friends, Art Kurpjuweit and George Fischer.  He was widely known throughout Southern Alberta for his exceptional abilities and his knowledge of the land and those who lived on it.  His approach to hunting was influenced by his intimate knowledge and respect for indigenous native culture.  He respected the land, he rarely missed, and he utilized everything from any animals he ever took.  Besides his loving wife, Marjorie, he is survived by his daughter, Carol (Dennis) Schlenker of Medicine Hat and their children, Corey (Randy) Campbell - Ashley and Cole; Kevin (Marla) Schlenker - Alivia, A.J., and Juliana of Arcola, Sask; and Murray Schlenker of Medicine Hat; his son, Don Wutzke and his special friend, Carol of Medicine Hat and Don's children, Shay (Chad) Endo - Abbey of Red Deer; Matt (Jen) Wutzke - Cambria of Medicine Hat and Brandon of B.C. and Chad Wutzke of B.C.   His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a joy and inspiration to Grandpa, telling

I'm just a little feller
Who didn't quite make it there;
I went straight to be with Jesus
But I'm waiting for you here.
Don't you fret about me Mommy,
I'm of all God's lambs most blest;
I'd loved to stay there with you,
But the Shepherd knows what's best.
Many dwelling here where I live,
Waited years to enter in;
Struggled through a world of sorrow
And their lives were marred with sin.
So, sweet Mommy, don't you sorrow,
Wipe those tears and chase the gloom;
I went straight to Jesus' bosom
>From my lovely Mother's womb.
Thank-you for the life you gave me,
It was brief, but don't complain;
I have all of Heaven's glory,
Suffered none of earthling's pain.
