on the table. She could make those tasty meals out of
nothing! In her later years she enjoyed watching
Mass on TV and doing search-a-word puzzles. Her religion
was very important to her. Mom was very proud of her
family and loved to spend time with her grandchildren
and great-grandchildren. She was a great example to
family; a loving wife, great mother and a very special
grandma and will be dearly missed. She leaves to cherish
her memory, 7 children: Louis Stappler of Whitla,
Rosemary (Ed) Gatz of Bow Island, Annabelle (Charles)

many good friends and neighbors.
Arthur was born on May 29, 1914 and raised in the Whitla
district where he farmed until the time of
his passing. He received his schooling at Golden Sheaf,
but his numerous skills were mostly self taught. Arthur
married Lillian Smith in 1943, and together they farmed
North of Whitla. Arthur found pleasure in seeing a field
of wheat and a herd of grazing cattle. His goal was to
farm until he was 90 and indeed, he surpassed that goal
when in the spring of his 91st year he did most of his
own seeding. Although he will not reap the harvest, he
knows that the fruits of his labours will yield a bumper
crop. In his earlier years Arthur enjoyed curling
and many years of bowling with Margaret Marsh. He
