WES O'GREYSIK
1943 - 2005
Wesley Thomas O'Greysik, beloved husband of Mrs.
Patricia O'Greysik of Medicine Hat, went to be with his
Lord on Monday, January 3, 2005 at the age of 61 years.
Besides his wife Patricia, Wesley leaves to deeply
cherish his memory his sons, Sean (Alice) of Leduc,
Alberta, Patrick of Edmonton, Alberta and Scott (Krista)
of Medicine Hat, Alberta. Those who will greatly
miss their 'Papa' are Wesley's grandchildren, Morgan and
Taylor, Tate and Jhett. His smile was never wider than
when he was spending time with his grandchildren, or
relating stories about them. They were the apple of his
eye. Wesley is also survived by his mother,
Margaret; brothers, Joe (Gayle) of Souris, Manitoba,
Dale (Linda) of Elkhorn, Manitoba, Lynn of Kenora,
Ontario, Randy (Alanna) of Brandon, Manitoba and Jerry

his schooling in Elkhorn, Manitoba, and later attended
the University of Manitoba where he acquired a degree in
engineering. He was employed in management for several
companies in the oil and gas industry, the last company
being Alberta Energy Company. After spending three years
in Argentina with AEC, Wes retired in 1998 and has
enjoyed life to the fullest - family first and then many
hobbies and interests including sports. Wes was an avid
golfer, curler, senior slow pitch player and enjoyed
building and flying RC airplanes. Wes had a passion for
hockey and died with his skates on. His interests also
included photography and he had the eye of an artist
when he captured a picture on film, whether it was the
smiling faces of his grandchildren or the beauty of
God's nature. Wes gave unsparingly of his time and skill
to serve his Lord in the church and also in helping
family and friends. That help was accompanied by a
chuckle and a smile! Wes was a gentle giant who
was loved by many and will be missed so greatly by all
who knew him. He left his signature on the pictures he
captured ... they too were a work of art - and it's only
suiting that his signature be left on the life he lived!

DOROTHY OWENS
1911 - 2004
Dorothy Lila May (Baker) Owens, beloved wife, mother and
grandmother, passed peacefully from mortal life on
November 23, 2004. She was 93 years of age.
Dorothy was predeceased by her beloved Dave on February
6, 1983. She was a resident of Club Sierra and prior to
that 2nd East and 2nd North in Medicine Hat Regional
Hospital. Despite failing health for a number of years,
she never lost her delightful spirit or positive
attitude. Dorothy was born
February 17, 1911 to parents James and Madge Baker in
Stratford Ontario. Following the death of her parents,
Dorothy as a young girl, moved to Indian Head,
Saskatchewan where she resided with her Sister Vera
O'Beirne and family. As a young woman she met and dated
David Robert Owens a new school teacher in the
community. They were married in Calgary, Alberta on
August 21, 1937. Dave and Dorothy subsequently moved to
Shaunavon, Saskatchewan where Dave accepted a position
as high school Principal. They lived a very active
community life in Shaunavon devoting considerable time
to church activities in the United Church of Canada.
Dorothy was also a member of the Eastern Star in the
Masonic Lodge. Dave & Dorothy enjoyed curling and
delighted in Sunday family drives into the Cypress
Hills. In 1955 the Family, now including three children,
Patricia, Robert, and Margaret moved to Medicine Hat. As
a result of health problems, Dave reluctantly accepted
semi-retirement. With the exception of approximately
five years when Dave taught school in Schuler, Alberta,
they were permanent residents of the City. She will be
deeply missed by her children and their mates. Patricia
Mary Owens of Medicine Hat, Alberta. Her son Robert
David Owens and his wife Geraldine of St. George, Utah,
and a daughter Margaret Carol and her husband Wayne
Savigny of Richmond, B.C. Dorothy's greatest delight was
being a grandmother to her five grandchildren. She was
adored by each one of them; Tara and David (Bob Owens)
and Meghan, Gillian and Allison (Margie Savigny). A
visit to Grandma's was considered a treat! She gave them
her full attention; trips to "Grandma's Park', the
endless variety of games and
songs, the wheel barrel rides and at the end of
adventures sharing from the bottomless cookie jar.
Dorothy also has four great grand children. Dorothy will
be remembered as a kind and generous neighbor. Even when
she was in her seventies she would often shovel snow
from "elderly' neighbors' walks and deliver warm meals
on a regular basis. She delighted in little children and
her home was popular to little tykes calling for big
cookies and short visits. She was always anxious to help
those in need. To a considerable measure, her kind deeds
were returned in recent years by the loving care she
received from her daughter Pat, who loved and cared for
her at bedside on a daily basis. The kindness and
abundant affection of the staff at Club Sierra and
Medicine Hat Regional Hospital, and of her Physician Dr.
G.D. Prince is also gratefully acknowledged.
The Funeral Service will be held at Cook Southland
Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on
Saturday, November 27, 2004, at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend
Jim Hillson officiating and interment to follow at
Hillside Cemetery.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Dorothy's
name may be made directly to the Alzheimer Society, 631
Prospect Drive S.W., Medicine Hat, Alberta T1A 4C2.
