KATHLEEN
KRAMER-SMITH
1922 - 2007

While surrounded by her family, Mrs. Kathleen
Kramer-Smith, peacefully passed away at the Riverview
Care Centre, on Thursday, June 14, 2007 at the age
of 85 years.
Kathleen was born in England on January 21, 1922, a
daughter to Cyril and Edith Brown. She was raised
and schooled in England
where she became an entertainer for the ground troops.
This is where she met her future husband, William
Kramer. After their marriage, she came to Canada
as a warbride, settling in the Broadacres area of
Saskatchewan. This became their home where they
farmed for nearly fifty years. During this time,
she enjoyed the life the farm offered...from raising
farm animals to growing big gardens. She had quite
a greenthumb! Kathleen was a devoted
mom and liked to keep her kids entertained by going
Christmas caroling and singing for amateur hour
contests. In her day, she was known
for her singing, tap dancing and her impersonations of
Gracie Fields and Shirley Temple. She liked to
attend the war-bride reunions and relive those days.
Kathleen knew her way around the kitchen and baked lots
of bread and cinnamon buns for her family. She
will be remembered for her love of tea! For her family,
3:00 P.M. will always be 'Tea Time' and they will fondly
rekindle her words " Išll have a nice cup of tea with my
tea".
Kathleen will be lovingly remembered by her 4 daughters,
2 sons, a brother and sister; a sister-in-law,
grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as
numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased
by her first husband, William Kramer; her second
husband, Frank Smith; a son, Michael and a grandson,
Clayton Rogers.
In a dignified manner, Kathleen's family quietly said
their goodbyes during a prayer of remembrance.
A heartfelt appreciation is extended to Dr. Viljoen, the
staff at the Good Samaritan Society and a very special
thank-you to the staff at the Riverview Care Centre for
their excellent care shown to mom.

day. Bud had to be there in time to start the coffee for
the first shift of coffee row to arrive. Relatives and

OTTO
KLEINKNECHT
1923 - 2004
Mr. Otto Kleinknecht passed away in his home in
Medicine Hat on Thursday, April 29, 2004 at the age of
80 years. Otto was born on September 21, 1923 in
Manyberries, a son to Emanuel and Rose Kleinknecht. He
grew up on the family home place in Manyberries and
later took over the day to day
operations of their farm. As a young man at the age of
18, Otto received notice that he would serve his
country with the Royal Canadian Army. With only
farming experience behind him and never have
been off the farm, this news was intimidating to him,
however, he accepted the challenge and enlisted in the
Army in Calgary. It was an experience that Otto never
forgot. Upon his return, he maintained the home place
and married Edline Guthmiller. They remained in
Manyberries until 1960 when they sold the home
place to his brother John. Otto, Edline and their
young family moved to the Bowell District where he
farmed and ranched on his own with his family. Otto's
family, horses, cattle and the freedom of the prairies
was his life and he loved it dearly. Otto remained on
his land up until two months ago. Due to health
issues, it was decided that he would move to Medicine
Hat where he resided at The Valleyview. Otto
will be sadly missed by his wife, Vera; his daughters,
Elaine (Dave) Zahenaiko of Rolling Hills, Donna (Al)
Dirk of Foremost and Peggy Kleinknecht and friend
(Mike) of Medicine Hat; his grandchildren; Alana
(Patrick), Loren (Kristy), Delaina, Scott, Tyson,
Travis, Tanya (Lynn), Tracey and Cody;
great-grandchildren, Tamara, Josh, Brandon, Keagan and
Gregory; a daughter-in-law, Shirley Kleinknecht
of Medicine Hat, and two sisters, Elsie and Edith, as
well as numerous nieces and nephews. Otto was
predeceased by two sons, Wilfred and Norman; his first
wife Edline Kleinknecht; parents Emanual and Rose and
his brother John.
Those that wished to, paid their respects at Cook
Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13 Street S.W., on
Monday, May 3, 2004, between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service will be held at Cook Southland
Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at 2:00 P.M.
with Reverend Loren Hosfield
officiating. Private family interment to follow at
Hillside Cemetery.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Otto's name
may be made directly to the Heart & Stroke Foundation,
