WALTER FRIESZ
1926 - 2005
Mr. Walter Friesz, beloved husband of Mrs. Irene Friesz of Medicine Hat,
passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on
Friday, February 4, 2005 at the age of 78 years. Walter
was born on September 14, 1926 on the family farm near
Golden Prairie, Saskatchewan. He later met and married
Irene Bauer on November 29, 1952. In his younger years
he gained employment with the C.P.R. which sparked his
already keen interest in trains. Following his days on
the railroad, Walter began a rewarding career in farming
which lasted 37 years. During his career he had an 'Old
Oliver' tractor that he was quite fond of. Walter
retired in 1987 and then moved to Medicine Hat. With the
true work ethic of a farmer, he never let grass grow
under his feet... he was always on the go! He enjoyed
visiting friends and family... which normally meant he
would tease them and keep good company.
Walter liked fishing, gardening, playing cards and
woodworking. He made many flower pots, planters and
mailboxes. The time best spent, was time he made for his
family. He loved playing and kidding with his
grandchildren.
Walter will be missed but kept near the hearts of his
family including his wife Irene and four children, Larry
(Barb), Wayne (Jacque), Sandy (Kelly) and Barry (Donna);
12 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; a brother
Harry (Faye) and two sisters, Frieda and Gladys (Joe) as
well as many nieces and nephews. Walter was predeceased
